Local Entrepreneur Brings Vibrant Colors to Ōpōtiki and Beyond
Easter Bay entrepreneur and community council member, Jahn, is making waves with his initiative to bring vibrant color schemes to Ōpōtiki and other towns. Known as the owner of Ataturk Café, Jahn draws inspiration from the lively streets of Colombia, where he spends considerable time.
Years ago, Jahn took on a similar project in Whakatāne, painting business facades to breathe new life into the town’s streetscape. Now, he’s bringing that same energy to Ōpōtiki, where he has already arranged for four Church Street buildings to be transformed with fresh, colorful designs.
The project is entirely funded by Jahn, with generous support from sponsors Resene and Mitre 10. Jahn explained that he was motivated by a desire to contribute to the beautification of the town and expressed his gratitude for the support provided by the Ōpōtiki District Council.
“The response has been amazing,” Jahn shared. “It’s great to see the community getting behind this initiative. A brighter, more welcoming main street benefits everyone.”
This colorful vision isn’t stopping in Ōpōtiki—Jahn revealed that four other towns have expressed interest in having their main streets revitalized with similar projects. His efforts demonstrate a commitment to fostering community pride and creating inviting spaces for locals and visitors alike.
